Australian Honeysuckles is a medium large genus from Australia and Tasmania. They are evergreen, small to medium-sized woody shrubs to tall trees within the silvertree family (Proteaceae). They have leathery, round, oval to linear leaves and utmost showy, bright colored terminal flower cones. All Banksia species make good pot or container plants for any fertile, humus rich, slightly sandy to rocky, almost lime-free soil in a sunny spot throughout the year with a winter minimum of some 10°C and reduced watering. Sow seeds flat in any humus rich, sandy soil at some 20°C. Cover seeds slightly with soil only. Keep pots always moist from beneath and sunny until germination starts, then keep soil drier. All are of USDA climate zone 11. 7 seeds per package.
