2 (4)m, almost extinct Madeira Elderberry with feathered, plain glossy leaves and white umbels of small whitish flowers followed by deliciously sweet and juicy, glossy black fruits in late summer on older plants. Native to humus rich soils in open spots in the laurel forest on Madeira, with few remaining wild specimens in nature. Keep frostfree and cooler in winter at some 5-15°C, in a sunny spot. Reduce watering. An ornamental, evergreen container plant for a slightly heated greenhouse or cold wintergarden. USDA Climate Zone 10. IV-V.
