Iris lacustris
10cm, similar to Iris cristata (and sometimes called Iris cristata ssp. lacustris), yet even smaller in all parts and native of Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Creeping rhizomes, shiny, broad, light green foliage and usually brilliant purplish-blue flowers. A miniature treasure for any humus rich, very leafy and slightly moist, yet well drained soil in partial shade to full sun. IV-V.
