Dioscorea balcanica (Balcan Yam Root)
200 (500)cm, Balkan Yam Root is the only winter hardy species native of Europe, which is rarely found in woods in former south-eastern Yugoslavia and N Albania. Makes annual vines with glossy, broadly arrow shaped leaves with decorative reddish purple veins and small bulbils formed in the axillaries. For any rich, well drained soil in a protected, sunny to partially spot. USDA Climate Zone 6. VI-VII.
Bulbils are not available for a delivery to the U.S.
