Arum palaestinum (Black Calla Arum)

Arum palaestinum (Black Calla Arum)
30 (45)cm, Black Calla Arum is a rarely cultivated species native of rocky soils in dry woodlands and mountainious areas in Palestine (e. g. Mount Hermon). It is one of the tallest species with dark green, glossy arrow shaped leaves and a tall spatha, dark purplish black inside and a black spadix. In contrast to other species it is rose scented. For any rich, very well drained soil in full sun in a protected spot, as it is a wintergreen species and leaves are not very frost resistant. Alternatively grow as a pot plant under cold glass, keep drier in winter and always frost free at a minimum of some 2°C. IV-V.
