Wächst an vertikalen Felswänden der subalpinen Region der höchsten Lagen Madeiras (z.B. unterhalb des Pico Ruivo auf knapp 1.720m). Im Gegensatz zur Art hat diese Form kleinere, stärker sukkulente Blätter und bildet einen Blütenstand, der kaum 10cm hoch und breit wird. Die Blätter sind stark behaart und an einem sonnigen Standort rot-violett überhaucht. Wächst für gewöhnlich zweijährig und unverzweigt, kann jedoch einfach aus Samen gezogen werden.
