Es hat länglich ovoide, hoch sukkulente Blätter, die sehr klebrig sind. Die La Palma Form hat noch breitere, fast eiförmige Blätter, und sollte unter dem Status einer Varietät gefasst werden. Eine sehr attraktive Art bedingt durch rote Streifen auf den Blättern bei vollsonnigen Stand und dichten, hellgelben Blütenständen mit vielen kleinen Blüten im April und Mai. Während der Ruhezeit verlieren die Pflanzen die meisten Blätter und erscheinen dann wie größere Nadelköpfe.
