Hibiscus radiatus (October Rosemallow)

100 (150)cm, October Rosemallow, Ruby Hibiscus or Monarch Rosemallow is a semiwoody biannual to short lived perennial shrub from southeast Asia with deeply lobed and serrated, cannabis-like leaves and large, beautiful dark pink to deep winered flower cups with a darker center from late summer to autumn. For any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep drier at a minimum of some 15°C. Several plant and seed companies distribute seeds and plants from Hibiscus radiatus under the name of Hibiscus furcellatus. However, true Hibiscus furcellatus is not in general cultivation. We do have seeds from true to type Hibiscus furcellatus in the shop, and above, seeds are from an even rarer population of Hawaii. VIII-X.
