Erythrina flabelliformis (Southwestern Coral Bean)

170 (210)cm, Southwestern Coral Bean is a small woody deciduous shrub with terminal racemes of most ornamental, long, bright red flowers. For any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot throughout the year. Winter hardy only in the mildest regions in Central Europe (e.g. the Mediterranean, Atlantic costs and Rhine valley) with some winter protection. In colder areas grow this beautiful plant in containers, in winter keep drier at a minimum of some 5°C. Seeds from a certified wild collection in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA at some 1500m. VII-IX.
