Puya coerulea var. violacea (Violet Puya)

100 (170)cm, Violet Puya is a very ornamental variety from the VI, VII and VII regions in Chile. As the species it is a smaller plant with narrow silvery-grey leaves in a basal rosette of up to 50 cm in diameter and an upright growing, red-stemmed raceme with blackish-purple flowers. Puya coerulea var. violacea is a very fast growing Puya species and may reach flowering size after just three year under appropriate cultivation conditions. In winter keep plants almost completely dry in a sunny spot at a minimum of some 7°C. VII-IX.
