Gossypium sturtianum (Sturt's Desert Rose)

150 (200)cm, Sturt's Desert Rose is an utmost beautiful, long lived, small woody shrub with eye-catching bright rose, pale pink to dark purple or rarely rosy-maroon flowers with a dark purplish-red throat above showy oval, slightly leathery, bluish-green leaves. This rare species is native of dryish soils in shrub lands and forests in central and northern Australia. It will grow well and flower freely as a pot plant. For any rich, well drained substrate in full sun throughout the year. In winter keep plants drier at a minimum of some 15°C. Our seeds are from a very colorful, rich pink flowering form. The photo depicts one of our mother plants. VII-VIII.
