5 (10)m, Cassabanana is a fast growing tropical South American perennial vine which can be grown as an annual as well. It has edible, large, elongated orange to green skinned fruits with a pale yellow to orange flesh, which has a very pleasant melon-like taste in ripe fruits. Fruits can be stored for a very long time, the flesh of unripe fruits is cooked or baked and served as a side-dish. For any rich, well drained soil in full sun with sufficient warmth during it's growing period and an early pre-culture under glass. Seeds are from a green-skinned cultivar with pale yellow to almost white flesh. VI-VIII.
