200 (400)cm, Guadeloupe Mini Gourd is a vigorously fast growing herbaceous perennial climber from southern USA to Central America and can be grown as an annual. It has numerous small, oblong, white dotted and lined mini cucumbers which are very similar to those of Melothria scabra and which are edible while still being immature. Mature fruits are laxative and have a rather unpleasant, slightly sweet taste. Easily cultivated in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Either cultivate as an annual or keep dormant rootstock in winter dry at a minimum of some 10°C. VI-IX.
