Leonotis (Lion's Tail)

Lion's Tails are a small genus of some 8 ornamental species from tropical Africa, only Leonotis leonurus extends to India. They are fast growing perennials with tall annual flowering stems with dense whorls of bright orange flowers. All are excellent pot plants in colder areas, where they should should be kept slightly drier and at a minimum of some 15°C in winter and in full sun throughout the year.
Sow at some 20°C throughout the year in any well drained, yet humus rich soil. Seed will germinate within 3 to 6 weeks. Keep seedlings in full sun, especially in winter months.
