Wachendorfia

Wachendorfia is a small South African genus very similar to Watsonia, but with more open flowers. Plant habit and cultivation advice is the same as for the genus Watsonia.
Sow late spring in any well drained soil in full sun. Best if pre-cultivated under frost-free conditions for two years. Keep pots frostfree at max. 10°C in winter. Transplant young corms rather deep (some 15cm/6") in fall of their second year. An extra thick mulch layer as winter protection is recommendable especially for younger plants.
All are USDA Climate Zone 8 unless otherwise specified.
