Monanthes is a small genus of strongly succulent, dwarf members within the Crassulaceae family and mainly confirmed to the Canary islands, the Madeira and the Cape Verde archipelago and in mountains in southwestern Morocco. Most species make stemless to short stemmed rosettes of tiny, strongly succulent leaves and do not reach more than 1cm in diameter. They are easily grown in even very small pots in any rich, well drained, rocky soil in a sunny spot. Keep plants drier in winter in full sun and at a minimum of some 10°C.
Sow dustlike seeds on any very well drained, rock-sandy soil and do not cover with soil. Keep seedlings only slightly moist from beneath. Do not transplant after sowing, but let them create ornamental, dense mats of rosettes.
