Mock Privets belong to a small genus within the oil tree family (Oleaceae) with only four species in the Mediterranean region. All species are ornamental evergreen, small woody shrubs with ornamental leather-like, narrow lanceolate, dark green leaves, greyish-green on the lower face and showy dark blackish-blue fruis in autumn and winter. They are easily grown as pot or container plants in any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot. During winter keep plants cool, yet frostfree in full sun with reduced watering. In warmer regions (Mediterranean and Atlantic area) plants can be grown in a sheltered place outside in the garden.
Sow in any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot at some 20°C to 30°C. Keep soil always slightly moist, yet not wet. As soon as seedlings appear place pots in a sunny spot.
All are USDA Climate Zone 9.
