Lemon Balm is a small genus in the Mint Family (Lamiaceae) with strongly aromatic, perennial herbaceous herbs. The lemon-scented leaves are used in potpourris, aroma therapies, and in the preparation of wellness teas. They are easily cultivated in any well drained, humus-rich soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot.
Sow flat on any well drained soil in a sunny spot. Cover fine seeds only slightly with soil, and keep pots at some 15°C to 20°C. Transplant to the garden as soon as seedlings are strong enough.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
