Verbesina (Crown Beard)

Crown Beards are annual to herbaceous perennials from the Americas. They make numerous bright lemon yellow flowers in summer, above ornamental bluish green foliage in some species. All Verbesina species are easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot.
Sow seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil and keep pots outside in a protected spot. Seeds require a prolonged cooling period prior to germination in late spring. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden as soon as they are strong enough.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
