American Elephant's Foot Tree, Bottle Trees or Beargrass with flattened caudex, broad stem and dense upper rosettes of large, Yucca-like leaves. Very decorative, easy and slow growing plants for container cultivation or open garden in milder climates, completely dry from October onwards. For any well drained soil in full sun. Adult plants make dense racemes of large pure white to greenish or creamy white flowers, sweet scented.
Sow flat at a minimum of some 20°C in full sun. Transplant after fifth leaf has appeared. Keep drier in winter and sunny at 5-15°C.
