Bloodroot is a monotypic genus from semi-moist woods in eastern North America. It is a herbaceous, rhizomatous perennial with a single, deeply lobed leaf is born after the quite large, showy snow-white flowers in spring. Easily cultivated in any humus rich, well drained, always slightly moist soil in a partially shaded spot.
Sow flat in any humus rich, well drained, always slightly moist soil. Keep pots in a partially shaded, protected spot outside. Carefully transplant the fleshy rhizomes in summer as soon as plant go dormant.
