Senecio (Canary Succulent Groundsel)

Senecio is a very diverse genus with annual to perennial, herbaceous to evergreen species, some having succulent leaves and stems. The most common Canary endemic is Senecio kleinia native of succulent shrub formations in rocky soils on all islands. It has erect, succulent stems topped by annual linear leaves emerging in autumn. Grows well in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot, keep drier in winter at a minimum of some 15°C.
Sow flat in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot at some 20°C to 30°C. Keep soil only slightly moist and turn seedlings to full sun, especially in winter months, their main growing season.
