Annatto Shrub is native of tropical South America and makes a good container plant for any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. It has evergreen, Acer-like foliage, and clusters of white, yellowish-white or pale rose flowers, which are followed by egg-shaped, spiny, and large fruits turning red on ripening. Ground seeds are used for herbal dyes and as a spice to color various dishes. In winter keep plants drier at a minimum of some 15°C in a sunny position.
Sow flat in any rich, yet very well drained soil at a minimum of some 25°C.
20 seeds per package.
