Menispermum (Moonseed)

Moonseeds are fast growing, woody vines with only small flowers in early summer, but with attractive foliage which beautifully colors in autumn before falling to give sight to many dark colored berries. Each berry contains only one seed which has the shape of a moon, thus its popular name "Moonseed". Will grow in any humus rich, yet well drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Very easy and adoptable vine.
Sow from autumn to late spring in any rather sandy soil in a partially shaded place. Keep pots in a sheltered and sunny spot outside. Will germinate in late spring to early summer. Transplant young plants in autumn.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.

It makes quite thin climbing stems with most ornamental, large, heart shaped, bluish light green leaves and lose clusters of dark bluish-black berries in autumn. Easy in any rich soil in a partially shaded to sunny spot. V-VII.
