Canary Silkflower Vine, native to the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean from sunny spots in sandy to stony soils. Make rather long, woody vines. Leaves will shed at too high summer temperatures and drought. The typical star like flowers are yellow to maroon red shaded, followed by two capsules which will open to free small narrow seeds on long, silk like parachutes.
Sow flat at 20-25°C in any rather inorganic soil (e.g. crushed lava, some humus added). Reduce watering in winter, keep sunny at minimum 10°C. Note: All species within the family of Asclepiadaceae have poisonous milk sap!
