Townsend Daisies are annual to herbaceous perennials from mountainous regions in western North America. Most species have a dwarf habit and make dense basal leaf rosettes with bright colored lilac to pink flowers on short stalks. All are easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Excellent rock garden plants.
Sow seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil and keep pots outside in a protected spot. Seeds require a prolonged cooling period prior to germination in late spring. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden as soon as they are strong enough.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
