False Lily-Of-The-Valley is a small genus from partially shaded spots in humus rich soils in woods in the Northern hemisphere. They are herbaceous to evergreen rhizomatous perennials with oval leaves and short racemes with small whitish flowers followed by red to black berries. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil. Best under trees and shrubs, where they will make dense carpets.
Sow preferably in autumn in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. Seeds Require a cooling period over several weeks prior to germination in late spring. Some seeds might take two years to germinate.
