Primula (Primrose)

Primroses cover some of the most outstanding perennials, and most reach flowering size within 1 year after sowing. Some are growing in rocky places in higher mountainous areas, such as the Alps or the Himalaya range, some are native of dryish to moist woods and others are bog plants. For cultivation requirements of certain species please refer to the list below.
Sow seeds flat on top of any rich, moist soil in partial shade, preferably from autumn to spring. Do not cover sowings and place pots in a protected spot outside where they will receive some moisture throughout the year, yet are protected from strong rains. Transplant seedlings in early summer or autumn, depending on growth. From most species viable seeds are very hard to obtain!
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
