Hesperaloe or Red Yucca is a small genus of winter hardy xerophytic, evergreen perennials from arid areas in Texas and Mexico. They have a dense basal rosette of century plant like leaves and tall racemes with funnel shaped bright scarlet to dark purplish red flowers. They are easily grown in any rich, very well drained, preferably rocky soil in a protected spot in full sun. Excellent in the rock garden.
Sow seeds flat on any well drained substrate, cover seed only slightly with soil. Keep pots outside in a protected spot during winter and transplant in late spring or summer as soon as seedlings are strong enough.
All are USDA Climate Zone 7/8.
20 seeds per package.
