Canary Cineries, most are growing in moist laurel forests on the Western islands. Some are highly endangered due to their unique appearance and a large inflorescence with bright pink to rose-lilac above heart-shaped, leaves, covered with short silvery-green hairs. They are similar to South African Groundsels.
Sow flat on any humus rich soil in partial shade. Do not cover seeds with soil, and always water from beneath. Keep sunnier in winter at a minimum of some 12°C with reduced watering. Most species offered are semiperennials with semi-woody branches and usually die down after flowering. In several species new branches emerge from subterranean parts of the root stock.
