Canary Islands' and Mediterranean Mountain Thymes are strongly scented plants close to real thyme (Thymus spp.) and widely used in famous Canary and Mediterranean dishes. All make small, woody perennial sub shrubs with usually pinnate and highly aromatic leaves and small white to rose colored flowers. For any well drained, rocky soil in full sun to partial shade. Keep Canary species frostfree, very sunny and slightly drier in a frostfree spot at a minimum of some 5°C. Plant winter hardy Mediterranean Micromeria species in any rich, well drained soil in a protected and sunny spot.
Sow tiny, almost dust like seeds on any well drained substrate. Do not cover seeds with soil. Keep pots in a sunny spot and water only irregularly from beneath.
All are USDA Climate Zone 9/10 unless otherwise stated.
