Ruta (Canary Rue)

Rue is a small genus with usually perennials or woody shrubs native of the Mediterranean region, Macaronesian islands and southwestern Asia. They have distinctively fragrant, pinnate, bluish-green foliage and small yellowish flowers followed by bright colored fruits. The Canary rue grows as a woody shrub and can be easily raised in pots. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in full sun throughout the year. In winter keep drier at a minimum of some 10°C.
Sow flat in any rich, very well drained, preferably rocky soil at some 20°C. Keep pots always slightly moist in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep drier at a minimum of some 15°C.

Makes slightly arching woody stems with bluish-green, broadly feathered foliage and terminal lax clusters with yellow flowers followed by most ornamental, long lasting bright orange fruits.
