Metasequoia is a monotypic genus and was long believed to be extinct until a living fossil was discovered in only 1948 in Szechuan, China. Excellent as a solitary tree, very adaptable to soil conditions.
Sow flat in any well drained soil in autumn to early spring in full-sun. Pre-cultivation in pots for two years. Keep pots in a sheltered place outside during winter.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
