Remusatia (Hitchhiker Elephant Ear)

Hitchhiker Elephant Ears is a small genus with few species distributed from East Africa to Yemen, Oman, the Himalaya region and Southern to Northern Australia. All Remusatia species have ornamental, oval foliage and in addition several species have showy inflorescences in summer. Natural propagation is mainly by stolons, which are densely covered with tubercles ("bulbils"). All Remusatia species are easily cultivated in any rich, well drained soil in partially shaded (summer) to sunny (winter) spot. Several species may go dormant from autumn to spring. Keep dormant tubers rather dry at a minimum of some 10°C.
Plant the small bulbils (i.e tubercles) flat in any rich, well drained, slightly sandy soil at a minimum of some 25°C throughout the year. Bulbils may need up to four months and more to sprout. Keep pots in a sunny spot during winter months.
All are USDA Climate Zone 9/10.

Besides it produces leafless stolons covered with many small tubercles which serve for reproduction. For any rich, well drained soil in partially shaded (summer) to sunny (winter) spot. Keep drier in winter at a minimum of some 10°C. VI-VIII.
