Oxera

Oxera is a small and unusual genus within the mint family (Lamiaceae). Oxera species are found on the island of Vanuatu and on New Caledonia in the western Pacific only. It includes very diverse species which are either shrubs, small trees or climbers. Most of them are virtually unknown in cultivation outside their natural range. Most are evergreen species with showy flower clusters. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year and at a winter minimum of some 15°C.
Sow seeds upon receipt in any rich, well drained soil. Keep sowing pots at some 20°C to 25°C. In their first months seedlings are rather slow and they will need some time to adopt and to grow well. A genus for the plant connaisseur.
