Alexanders is a small genus in the carrot family (Apiaceae) and is found throughout the Mediterranean region, North Africa and western Asia. Several species have been cultivated for centuries as vegetables or as herbs for medical purposes due to their aromatic and slightly fleshy foliage. Sow seeds flat in any humus-rich, slightly sandy, well drained substrate at some 20°C. Transplant to the open garden in late spring to mid summer as soon as seedlings are strong enough.
