Saxifraga (Subtropical Madeira Saxifrage)

The diverse genus Saxifraga is represented by three taxa in Macaronesia, namely on Madeira and neighboring island Porto Santo. These are small perennials with round to elliptical, dissected leaves and large, white flowers. Naturally occurring in partially shaded to sunny spot in vertical cliffs. Grow well in any well drained, rather rocky to sandy soil in a sunny spot in the slightly heated alpine house or cold wintergarden. Form nice, floriferous clumps in time.
Sow tiny, dust-like seeds very flat on any rocky to sandy soil in a sunny spot. Do not cover seeds and keep substrate moist from beneath.
All are USDA Climate Zone 10 unless otherwise specified.
50 seeds per package.
