Moraea (South African Iris)

Moraea are Iris like plants from South Africa with long, broad lanceolate and usually evergreen to semi evergreen leaves with similar, large flowers as real Iris. Hardy in a sheltered place in the rockery garden in full sun to half-shade with a good mulch layer as protection against freezing through. After heavy freezing plants will resprout in late spring, excellent pot plants for an unheated wintergarden or greenhouse. All Moraea should be given some extra drainage in order to keep rhizomes rather dry in winter. Will flower freely if happy.
Sow at a minimum of some 10°C in spring any well drained, yet humus rich soil in full sun. Frostfree pot cultivation for preferably two years.
All are USDA Climate Zone 8 unless stated differently.
20 seeds per package.
